Gitzo Series 3 Systematic 4 Section Long Tripod GT3542LS Review

I purchased this to upgrade from a Manfrotto 055CXPRO3 as I've obtained larger lenses and so I could have something that will fit in my carry-on luggage if I absolutely need to bring a "big" tripod on a trip (I typically travel with a GT1542T). I should note that while it fits many carry-on bags, it can be somewhat awkward to pack so your mileage may vary in this regard. Anyway. this tripod is an absolute tank compared to my Manfrotto. I can hang from middle of it with no issues whatsoever. The largest lens I use with it is a 300mm f/2.8 and it's rock solid. I use it with a Really Right Stuff leveling base and BH-55, and when I need it a Wimberley Sidekick. The combination is excellent and I've yet to have any issues regarding stability, even in fairly rough conditions. Also I really like that Gitzo includes the foot accessories rather than charging extra for them.
