27X Optical Zoom Dome PTZ IP Camera Outdoor High Speed Review

Nice! I install cameras for Public Safety and IDOT, amongst other things. We've been installing Bosch 30x zoom PTZs - a VERY nice camera, but they're $2200! I didn't know what to expect for 1/10th the price, but this is a remarkably nice camera!!! For starters, the housing is cast aluminum and well sealed against moisture. Also, it has a built-in heater and circulation fan, something I wasn't expecting at this price. This keeps the dome from fogging up. The camera itself is a Sony, and the picture and zoom are both awesome, even at night. I can see the head of a phillips screw at 150'. Also, it comes w/a 3 amp, 24v ac power supply - these are not cheap if You had to buy one.

Please be aware: ***THIS IS NOT NOT NOT A NETWORK (IP, ETHERNET, CAT5) CAMERA!!!*** It's an RS-485 operated camera - it needs an RS-485 controller to work. But it outputs SD Video to work with any monitor / DVR. It IS NTSC output - not PAL like described. That's good (NTSC is USA, PAL is Europe). I got this as a security camera for a Police Department, and they love it!

It works right out of the box, no programming necessary. Keep in mind that You'll need 4 wires (2 for power, 2 for control) plus a BNC video cable to make this work.
