In 2009, I purchased the orginal TrekPod Go. Since it could fit in both my carry-on and checked luggage, it had the chance to travel around with me to Africa, Costa Rica, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Arizona, Florida, California, Mexico, Greece, Croatia and Slovenia. It also went on various hiking and many birding trips in the Tri-state region. I use it as a hiking stick until a bird or scenery demands a picture. With a quick click the camera connects and a shoot can be taken. Much more versatile than carrying a tripod around since as a hiking stick and monopod it has a tiny footprint and does not snag on trees and brush. During Sept 2012, the tripod legs stripped when being fitted into the nut on the shaft so the unit became wobbly and unsafe for use. Since there is a limited lifetime warranty, the company was contacted but the resulting response was "they are in reorganization, call back in 4-6 weeks." Tried to call again and the number was disconnected. Sort of gave up and used LockTite to join the legs to the shaft and used the Go Pod on a recent trip to Arizona. The connection held out until the last day of our photo safari. After a Google search, SellNSend was located as a distributor of the product. They provided the name, phone, and address of the warranty repair company To-Cad America. Turns out they are located 9 miles from my home in NJ. I drove the broken unit over for repair. Sally in Customer Service assured me there was no problem. She would fix it the same day and give me a call when it was ready. When I listened to my answering machine, she said there were no parts available so they would give me a new TrekPod Go Pro, did I want it sent or they would ship it. The good news was I am amazed that a company truly stood behind its product and would give me a new unit at no cost. The better news is the new unit is greatly improved over the old one. The connection between the tripod legs and the shaft has been redesigned. It should withstand lateral forces and pressure during use without stripping the threads. The Pro ball head is amazing. It is much improved using better materials and the clip is very strong and does not dangle. The "does not dangle" is important since when approaching wildlife and birds silence is an issue. The Mag/Mount Star is heavier and stronger so the camera or scope is more secure. The overall quality of the product has been improved. The company can't be beat. It stood behind its warranty and went the extra bit to make me a more than satisfied customer.
