Having read earlier reviews and the technical specification on this lens I was aware of it's shortcomings. Only working with the Panasonic GH-2, G2 or GF-2, it is not compatible with the G1, GH-1, GF-1 or Olympus micro 4/3rds lens.

The lens is small, as small as the 20mm f1.7 and has a focal length of 12.5mm and a fixed f stop of f12 and fixed focus of 1.5ft to infinity. So you instantly think that this will be a 24mm 35mm equivalent lens; wrong! Because it only uses half of the sensor for each of the twin lens it effectively a 55mm 3D lens. Not bad but wider would be better if you wanted it for landscapes, interiors etc. The fixed f-stop and big hyper-focal distance pretty much means everything is in focus and it's point and shoot.

Optically it very good sharp and contrasty giving two great images per shot, bundled into the industry standard MP (Multi-Picture) format. Unfortunately for mac users like me there is no software available from Panasonic yet to support this on a mac and you have to rely on a third party application. However, these allow conversion to classical anaglyphs and these are good 3D display options.

What do I use it for? Well landscapes and creating technical images for my research.
