I originally saw the smaller version of this and almost bought it, but was concerned about the max load of 9lbs. I decided to upgrade to this model and buy it w/o seeing it, which I hate doing. The more I use it the more I love it. As others have commented you have to get a system down for extending the legs - but that has to be that way, in order for it to shrink up to it's small size. I basically extend bottom 2 sets of legs while I am walking, so when I reach my destination I am about ready to go. After a while you just do it w/o thinking and it goes fast.
What I love about it, is the legs don't have to be on an even surface, as you can angle the center pole that the ball head is mounted on, then you rotate the actual camera on the easily adjustable ball head and wa law! The camera is level, even though the tripod is not. I use it with my Canon 5D Mark II with long lenses and have not have any problems with stability.

What else is nice is that the legs can lay almost flat out, allowing you to mount a camera just a few inches off the ground.

Best of all it is extremely light and small when squeezed up. I have a PT photography business and I am only 5'1, so I find it very easy to carry or strap onto my backpack, but it does not function like a travel tripod.

I have not used the monopod function yet.

Also - I didn't see for about 2 weeks, but inside the case there is an allen wrench and sharp feet to replace the rubber pre-installed ones for anyone who prefers those kind instead.

I got the green - but I have seen all the colors in person and they are all cool.
