SIRUI K-10X 33mm Ballhead with Quick Release, 44.1 lbs Load Capacity Review

In general it's rather Okay for the price. My other ball head a Cullman Magnesit 35 is a monster relatively speaking. I wanted to lighten the total load on my new Benro carbon tripod so this was my choice. Most of my shooting is with a Canon 5D Mk11 gripped with an L bracket.

Pros:
The Arca Swiss clamp with the level works very well with my RRS L bracket. The release button actually works with it and keeps it from sliding off.
The tension "screw" is novel and works well when setting the minimum tension on the ball.

Cons:
Over all the ball tension is somewhat problematic with my EF 24-105 f4L lens. I also have a 70-200 mm f4L which I'll use from time to time. It just takes quite a bit if finger force to sufficiently tighten the ball as the adjustment knob is relatively small, too small for a full hand grip. My Cullman ball head adjustment is much larger.

Also the pan friction is set and not adjustable, it appears to be factory adjusted and set far too tight.

Edit: I've found that torquing the set screws on my tripod to anchor the ball head to affect the pan minimum drag. I guess I was torquing a little too heavy. I backed off a little and the drag now feels the same as not being mounted.

Edit #2: After living with this ball head for a while now I really think I should have gotten the K20X it's bigger brother. This works fine with my Samsung NX210 but is a little lite for my Canon 5D MK11 gripped and 24-105L lens.
