I've owned a lot of 35mm len's prior to this. I've had canon's f/2.0, f/1.4, nikon's f/2.0, f/1.8g, f/1.4g, and older ais. The Zeiss is much better and in it's own class. Outstanding contrast, color, bokeh, and of course sharpness. Just buy it already! When you see your photos, they're out of this world. There's something about the photos that this lens produces that's just "right." That being said, it's manual focus only. In practice, I've found that the manual focus is pretty forgiving, probably because it's wide angle.
