Phottix Odin TTL Flash Trigger for Sony TX/RX Set Review

After much research I opted to purchase the Phottix Odin TTL Flash Trigger for Sony TX/RX Set. I teamed up the trigger with my Sony Alpha 580 and the Sony HVL-43AM flash. TTL works absolutely great, TTL HSS works absolutely great, Manual works absolutely great as well as Manual HSS. Everything the flash advertised worked as marketed.

Functionally the Sony HVL-43AM works well with the Phottix Odin system, however, the Sony HVL-43AM DISPLAY does not reflect the switch from TTL to Manual commands being sent by the Phottix Odin Transmitter. I was able to determined that the 43AM did receive the commands, albeit not visibly as I switched from TTL to Manual using the Phottix transmitter. I altered the manual output of the flash via the Phottix transmitter and validated the various output using a Sekonic light meter.

I tested the Metz 58 AF-2 MZ Digital Flash for Sony Cameras with the Phottix Odin TTL Flash Trigger for Sony TX/RX Set. The two in tandem worked flawlessly. The flash responded to the Transmitter as expected. All the displays were updated on the flash to reflect the command sent by the Phottix Odin Transmitter.
