Benro C2573FS6 Single Leg Video Tripod Kit (Black) Review

I own the Sachtler Ace, have had many Manfrotto tripods, and this one is the best. The head is super smooth, love the ball head adjustment, the legs are very high quality, and the tripod really is just so light and sturdy. Simply put, it is the best tripod you can possibly buy for less than 500 - probably for less than 1000 even.

There are a few quirks, which I find troubling because everything else about this piece of gear is just so high quality.

First is the most important thing, the slider plate release button (blue plastic on this). It gets stuck and you have to twist it sometimes to the right position to be able to push it in. Very frustrating when you are in a hurry and your second shooter is flailing about trying to tell you he/she can't get the camera off the tripod!

Second is all the knobs, twist locks, and levers around the head. The lever for the ball head adjustment conflicts with the twist lock for the head tube extension. This makes absolutely no sense, because the lever for the ball head is not something you torque down on, and it is the biggest lever on the whole tripod. It could be half as long and not get in the way, while still giving you ample surface to torque. That or the head tube extension could also be a lever similar to how most Manfrotto tripods operate.

Third is really not a big deal...It comes with spikes for the feet. I love how on my Sachtler you can just screw the rubber feet in or out to be either feet or spikes. On this you have to completely swap the rubber feet for the spikes. I just run the rubber feet to be safe so I don't accidentally end up with a liability claim for someone's antique hardwood floors :-(

If you can get over these quirks (I can) this is simply a beautiful tripod. You could compare it to any other carbon tripod at 2-3x the price. And YES, it is compatible with your Manfrotto 501 plates that are already attached to all your gear! Oh yes I almost forgot, it comes with the best quality travel bag I have ever seen!
