I have a new home theater setup where everything was located in a closet, 80+ feet away from my screen. Looking at all the HDMI solutions out there that would cover the distance, HDBASET looked the most promising. I picked this package due to the ability to hide the receiving unit behind the screen and the cabled IR support. These units will also to ethernet pass-through so I can plug in another ethernet device at the screen. I am pushing a 1080p signal from a Samsung BD player, via a Denon receiver's HDMI out. I hooked up the transmitter first and powered it on, then hooked up the receiving unit and powered it on. I popped in a Lord Of The Rings BD disc into the player and plopped myself on the couch. Using my existing units remotes, I turned on the TV and reciever. The IR support worked perfectly and the video and audio came through untouched and perfect. I have more than one unit to control in the closet, so I got a locally sourced IR emitter cable with two heads. Otherwise, the units come with everything you need to get started, including IR emitters and receivers in the box. I did try to get ARC support working, but it wouldn't function. I have read that Panasonic uses some proprietary communication protocol (Viera Link) and that could be part of the problem. Most people will probably have their cable box in the closet along with everything else anyway, so not a deal-breaker. The units do everything I expected and work perfectly. RECOMMEND for people who are faced with a long HDMI run between their screen and equipment.
