Vivitek Qumi Q5 500 Lumen WXGA HD 720p HDMI 3D-Ready Pocket DLP Projector with 4GB Memory (Black) Review

I have had a Qumi Q2 for a year, using it extensively (I travel a lot as a consultant)...it has withstood travel, TSA, and more. It is the right size, right weight. Disadvantages are the low brightness and inability to run from battery. It is not a replacement for full-size projectors or TV displays (I use them alot, too). But it has been a lifesaver several times - and NO ONE ELSE comes close.

I just purchased the Q5 and my first-impressions are that Vivitek kept all of the good points of the Q2 - AND increased the brightness. 500 lumens seems about the minimum to project presentations in standard offices without turning off (some of) the lights. The Q5 has a fan to cool the LEDs but it does not seem distracting. The ability to display MS Office, web (with WiFi USB) and more without a companion PC further makes this projector a "last minute save" must-have.

I use "standard" projectors for large-audience presentations and I use TVs for small-office projection. But there are many times when they are not available, and even more when "last minute" presentations have to be done 'on the fly'. For informal work with small groups and formal work when you just have to project, the Q5 is ideal. Solid-state, sturdy, and "backpack ready", the Q2 has been a very dependable partner. The Q5 makes it even more so.
