Sunpak PZ42XC Camera Flash Review

I purchased this flash from Amazon about a year ago. Upon recieving it I was excited to use it and took it to a birthday celebration. The flash worked for about 10 flashes and quit. The back display still worked but the unit was not able to flash no matter what I did. Now all of you are wondering if he had a bad experience why did he rate it so high?

That is because Amazon had a replacement flash for me in a very short time and since then I have been using it everywhere. My friends with Canon flashes were amazed how well it worked and were equally amazed when I told them the price.

I have used this flash for direct, bounce and indirect flash, manual and auto attached to a Canon 7D camera. I will say for close ups the built in difusser is a little harsh for light quality but most of all I have been using it with my Gary Fong LightSphere.

Update: 12/2/2012 Although I have used this flash for over a year now I just recently purchase a second flash which is a Canon 580EX. I can say while I thought I was happy with the SunPak the Canon is showing itself as a lot better flash, but it should. It cost a lot more. For those who are just starting out, yes, the SunPak is a good flash and has served me well, the Canon is just a better flash. I am continuing to use my SunPak with a remote to be a highlighting flash.
