Nikon PROSTAFF 5 BDC Riflescope, Black, 2.5-10x40 Review

This is overall a very nice scope especially if you find it on sale. The clarity is great, the weight is great. Unfortunately mine was returned to Nikon because the reticle was not aligned precisely with the turrets. Nikon has the scope in their possession and other than delivery being verified online by me I have not heard a word from Nikon and it's been 4 business days. Supposedly the scope will be repaired within 7 days after it reaches an approval stage so I presume it's somewhere along the line to the approval stage. Will post updates...
Received approval e-mail on business day 5 with a no charge warranty verification and a Customer Number and Service Number to check repair progress online. So far so good, will post update.

Sigma 350963 60mm F2.8 DN Lens (Black) (Micro Four Thirds) Review

This lens is an excellent value. The image quality is excellent even wide open. It focuses fast in dim light. Bokeh is smooth and pleasing and the lens focuses reasonably close. I haven't noticed any significant CA or flare issues. Manual focus works well also but it has a little strange feel focusing with the slick lens barrel.

The lens is pretty big in both diameter and length. It isn't as big as the Panasonic 45-200mm but it is close. I guess I'm not a fan of the slick lens barrel. It feels a little strange when you use manual focus and I am a little concerned about the lens slipping out of my hand during a fast lens change.

For the price, you really can't beat this lens. I my mind, this is the ideal price point for Micro 4/3 lenses and the image quality is excellent.

Great fit and finish, good quality monopod, but legs are plastic, which probably are the most used or abused part of the gear. The head on this monopod dose not have any drag, the Pan motion is smooth but it is either open or locked, The Tilt motion is not that smooth, it is a bit jerky. and gain it is either open or locked, if you try to close it enough to create a drag, all you get is jerkier motion.
over all it is a great monopod for photography but not video. This is really not a video monopod, but then again I should have guessed that from the price, however, it is a great value as a photography monopod.

I have both the Westcott and the Paul Buff large Parabolic umbrellas. The Westcott version has proven to be far superior and easier to use than the Buff version.

The Westcott Parabolic comes in a storage tube with a reusable top. In addition, it is also packed in a carry pouch with a handle for easy transporation. Note that it is NOT a convertible umbrella - it is only usable in reflective mode and not shoot through. The black cover does not come off.

The umbrella is quite durable and easily bent and had 'give' when blown over in the wind. I hauled it up winding narrow paths to the top of a mountain for a sunset shoot and it was light, easy to transport, and worked perfectly. Set up was less than a minute - it opens up just as any normal photographic umbrella. Unlike the Buff version, no extra assembly is needed.

Of course, the reason you get a parabolic is its soft, efficient lighting. I was very pleased with the light from this large light source.

I've decided to sell the (very annoying to set up) Buff parabolic umbrella and keep this Westcott. It really is that good of an umbrella and a quality product all around. As well, the ease of use and transport makes this a great on location modifier that gives me soft, efficient light.

Vivitek D952HD 3600 Lumen 1080p Office and Home Theater Projector Review

I wanted a projector for my home theater and personal computer use. It was very difficult to find something that would fit both needs nicely, but this one fits the bill! The D952HD is capable of producing a dazzling, bright, 11-foot display of sporting events on my wall even during daylight hours. The thing that really sets this projector above and beyond those to which I compared it was the full 1920x1080 resolution and the 3500 lumens of brightness

As for noise, I sit directly under the projector, less than two feet from the lens, and I can barely discern the noise from the fan, except for the most quiet scenes of movies. Even then, it's hardly noticeable.

I only have two complaints: The lens cover is not very easy to put back on. It's not frustratingly difficult, but for the high quality of the device otherwise, I'm a bit surprised by the cheap and unrefined lens cover. Also, the power-up and power-down "beep-boop" noise is loud and obnoxious. Whenever we finish a movie late at night and are lulled into a comfortable and relaxed mode by the soft music of the credits, I can feel a slight rise in anxiety as I have to inevitably shut down the projector. But for the quality I've experienced and the very reasonable price for full-HD, I am happy to deal with it.

Elite Screens VMAX150UWV2 VMAX2 Electric Projection Screen (150-Inch 4:3 AR) Review

I bought this screen along with the Optoma HD20 High Definition 1080p DLP Home Theater Projector (Grey) for my home theater and it shows a fabulous picture.

Out of the box it was well assembled and the only thing required of me were my own mounting screws. I was pleased to see an RF and IR remote included for operating the screen as well as the optional wall mount switch with an optional 12V toggle.

Installation was simple, my friend and I mounted it to wall studs and finished in about 30 minutes. Like I said, all you need to buy are your choice of mounting screws as the case ships fully assembled and ready to mount. It takes about 40 seconds for the screen to completely lower or raise up. This is by design since this isn't a tensioned screen. If the motor were too fast, the screen might get folded up during rolling and cause a nasty crease or wrinkle like a window shade that went up too fast. The slow retraction makes sure this doesn't happen. This doesn't bother me anyway because it takes me longer than that to warm up the projector and find a Blu-Ray to watch. The electric motor is very quiet too as a bonus.

The quality of the screen material was astounding. I had heard some users having wrinkled screens but my screen turned out nice and smooth. Colors and blacks turn out nicely on it when watching movies. Let me tell you also, 150 inches of real-estate looks flat-out beautiful. Words cannot describe it.

I have to give this a 5-star rating because it exceeded what my original expectations were and has really enhanced my home theater experience for a really good price. Good luck.
